Derek Henning Munro, 21, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in Williamsport as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born July 2, 1991, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Edward H. Munro III and Darcy J. Dodds Munro of Williamsport.
He was a 2009 graduate of Williamsport High School, where he was a standout goalie. Derek loved all aspects of soccer and had dreams of being a professional goalie.
He volunteered at the Muscular Dystrophy Camp in Southern Maryland since he was 16 years old. He also volunteered as a coach at Car-Rey Soccer Camp in Hagerstown, Md., every summer.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by brother, Austin E. Munro of Williamsport, brother, Jack E. Munro of Williamsport; paternal grandparents, Edward H. Munro Jr. and Barbara G. Munro of Bowie, Md.; maternal grandmother, Nancy Dodds Hayden of San Diego, Calif.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John A. Dodds.
There will be no viewing.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, with his grandfather, Edward H. Munro Jr., officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
