John Arthur Horst, 71, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Golden Living Center.
Born Sunday, May 4, 1941, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John R. Horst and Sarah Jane (Angle) Horst.
He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1959.
He was last employed by Hagerstown Goodwill Industries Inc.
He was a member of Broadfording Bible Brethren Church.
He is survived by his brother, Leo R. Horst of Williamsport, Md.; and sisters, Susan Rife and husband, Marvin, of Chambersburg, Pa., Mary Ann St. John and husband, Bob, of Anniston, Ala., and Janie Heidebrink and husband, Doug, of Nampa, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence E. Horst and Donald R. Horst.
Services will be Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. R. William Wyand officiating. Interment will be in Broadfording Church Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
