The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in October 2010 and found to have critical violations that needed to be corrected immediately:
Byers Stop-N-Go, 152 N. Burhans Blvd. — *Roast beef, chicken rice soup and chili below hot-hold temperature; must clean slicer and can opener (corrected); improper utensil used to dispense fried chicken coating; need mop storage rack in cleaning area; light out in exhaust vent hood above fryer; must clean inside and left side outside door of True refrigerator and floor under equipment along grill/food prep line; back doors (dry storage and food prep) not self-closing; boxes of port butts, mixed vegetables, and pie crust stored on floor in walk-in freezer; need chemical test strips.
Cafe Italia, 935 Pennsylvania Ave. — *Meatballs and sauce not at proper hot-hold temperature (corrected: products removed from steam unit and reheated); box of cheese stored on floor of walk-in cooler (corrected); must clean meat slicer and can opener; lights out in corner above mixer; cooling of soup in container greater than 3 inches deep in walk-in cooler.
Country Inn & Suites by Carlson, 17612 Valley Mall Road — *Temperature of juice machine was too high (corrected: discarded juice out more than two hours).
Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, 493 Prime Outlets Blvd. — *Four severely dented cans of crushed pineapple (corrected: cans removed from storage area); *hot dog chili sauce below hot-hold temperature (corrected: product discarded); hand sink blocked with blender and metal rack in sink; insufficient lighting in walk-in cooler.
Hartle's Subs, 1301 Marshall St. — *Meatballs, steak and hamburgers below hot-hold temperature (products removed from cooker/warmer and reheated in microwave); must clean exhaust fan cover in public restroom; public restroom faucets do not supply water for at least 15 seconds at hand sink; food for sale in Pepsi reach-in refrigerator not properly labeled.
Imperial Chinese Restaurant, 13112 Pennsylvania Ave. — *Shrimp above cold-hold temperature (corrected: food rapidly re-chilled); must replace floor tiles at cook line and in front of walk-in cooler and freezer; must repair screen in screen door; cabbage stored in non-food grade container/shopping bags inside sandwich prep unit reach-in (corrected); must clean can opener (corrected); food items/products in reach-in refrigerator and walk-in cooler not covered and protected from overhead contamination; dishmachine not properly sanitizing dishware; insufficient lighting in walk-in storage areas; light in dry storage area needs a guard or to be shatterproof.

North Hagerstown High School Stadium Concession, 1150 Pennsylvania Ave. — Lights out in vent hood.
Pacific Ocean Buffet, 908 Dual Highway — Light cover in walk-in freezer broken and light bulb missing.
Ravenwood Lutheran Village, 1183 Luther Drive — Corner area in walk-in freezer has ponded due to leak.
