    <em>UPDATE March 28, 2012 10:30 p.m.</em>-- WDBJ7 has learned developers have backed out of a deal to buy a major fixture in the New River Valley. Blacksburg Baptist Church was set to sell its property, but in an email to its congregation, church leaders said the developer, Landmark Properties, "encountered significant opposition within town government to the removal of the historic designation from the back half of our properties."
