1. COLUMN: SOLILOQUY: Advice for new rural residents

Dear Cousin Reginald, Because you’re moving to the Dakotas but are accustomed to city life, I thought you’d like a little help figuring out phrases in farm reports. When I first heard them, they confused me, but I now consider myself an...

3. Beyonce riles PETA again. Mila Kunis dons McQueen at 'Oz' premiere

Beyonce has been running afoul of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals all year, at least. First there was her fur coat at the presidential inauguration. Then there was her Super Bowl costume, which used leather and exotic skins. Now it's some custom-made PMK (Perfectly Made Kicks) wedge sneakers that incorporate ostrich, sting ray, anaconda and crocodile skins. "These custom-made kicks come with a high price and it's paid by the various animals who were beaten and skinned alive or cruelly farmed and killed," PETA said in a statement. [Telegraph]

5. The growing but quiet acceptance of regifting

By some accounts, most Americans have done it. They've repacked, rewrapped and resent unwanted presents to a new recipient.
By some accounts, most Americans have done it. They've repacked, rewrapped and resent unwanted presents to a new recipient. A survey in October 2011 by home fashion retailer HomeGoods found that more than half of the 1,000-plus respondents had regifted,...

7. Shinn's 'Teddy Ferrara' stuck on campus

THEATER REVIEW: "Teddy Ferrara" at the Goodman Theatre ★★
One of the problems with plays dominated by collegiate sexuality — and there is no shortage of graphic undergraduate sex in Christopher Shinn's “Teddy Ferrara” — is that if you are a few years removed from that particular time of...

9. Ravinia's warmth in winter

You know an interesting evening is brewing when it starts in Billy Corgan's Highland Park tea shop, with the rock singer/businessman holding forth with a hopeful conversation about bringing new cultural offerings to the north suburbs.

11. Advice: Do I tell him I'm not attracted?

I currently am dating a friend’s brother who is a complete sweetheart. Here's the problem: I am not attracted to him. We have been together for three months and only had sex twice, and both times I have not enjoyed it. He's on the heavy side, has tattoos, both nipples pierced, etc., and I know it’s all physical, but emotionally I am not into him either. He works in the freezer in a food store (he is 29, hates school, but after meeting me he wants to better himself within the store) while I work at an accounting firm and have goals. What I am trying to say is, what do I do to let him know that I would just rather be friends without saying, "I am not physically attracted to you nor do I see a future with you, aka it's not you, it's me?”--It’s Me

15. Savage Love: Double-Crossed

A friend of mine on the opposite coast is a crossdresser considering transitioning. He came out to a female friend he had known for a long time but hadn't seen in a while, and she told her that she wanted her to come to her house fully dressed for some hot sex to "explore her bi-curiosity" or some shit. I told her to go for it, saying gender-transgression play is potentially hot. I neglected to mention that she should only go for it if she trusted this girl (hereafter known as "Evil Bitch"). Evil Bitch backed out as soon as she arrived, but took her out to dinner (still fully dressed) as consolation. When she first told me this, I thought, "Oh well, Evil Bitch got cold feet, that sucks." Now my friend is telling me that Evil Bitch messaged a bunch of mutual friends he wasn't out to, outing my friend to them. After my friend told Evil Bitch that what went down between them was private, Evil Bitch just responded with "LOL k," and THEN posted pictures from their dinner date — fully dressed — on her Facebook. I told my friend to call Evil Bitch up and tell her what a violation of privacy and betrayal of trust that was. She just called him a faggot and hung up. I feel bad because I encouraged her to go for it. Is there anything my friend can do? She's freaking out and thinks that Evil Bitch ruined her life.
