  1. Whole wheat crepes

Sweet! The kids are coming home for Mother's Day weekend. I'll do the grocery shopping, and they'll cook (well, one meal anyway). They plan on making Sunday brunch — our family's favorite. However, these young adults stay out late on Saturday nights, so they'll need to work ahead. The solution: crepes. The simple batter for these delicate pancakes actually improves with resting. A filling of shredded rotisserie chicken comes together in minutes.

  5. Little Critters Affecting Local Plants

Some are green, some are yellow and some are reddish to black in color.  Actually they are kind of cute being very small, pear-shaped and moving very slowly.  If you look closely, a few may also have wings but they are seldom needed. What you are seeing on viburnum, tomatoes, collards, petunias, citrus, foliage plants and more are colonies of aphids.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Jerry Untiedt, of Untiedt's Vegetable Farm in Waverly, already has tomato plants in the ground under giant "high tunnel" metal and plastic field houses. The houses, which look like makeshift Quonset huts, trap the sun's heat and...

  17. Mayo: Line up the tomatoes, it's Legislature's last week

    Sun Sentinel Columnist
There are various metaphors for the end of the Florida Legislature's annual session, and none of them are pretty: Sausage-making, for one. And then there's another, which comes at the tail end of the digestive process. The end of the 60-day session is...

  23. Jonathan Gold | L.A. restaurant review: Corazón y Miel satisfies heart's desires

<em>"Coraz&oacute;n y miel</em>," your waitress wants it to be known, is the signature dish of Coraz&oacute;n y Miel. <em>Coraz&oacute;n y miel</em>, hearts and honey, is a small bowl of warm, seared chicken hearts in a sweet, honeyed vinaigrette, tossed with a few slivers of onion, like a chicken heart <em>escabeche</em>. The grayish hearts look a little gnarly, organy, probably more than you want to be dealing with before your third margarita.
