Overlooked by many in all the hoopla over the opening of New Fantasyland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom was the makeover given to the entrance signage and parking-payment booths at the Transportation and Ticket Center.
One wonders if the fairies from "Sleeping Beauty" were at work in the new color scheme, which — like Princess Aurora's dress — switched from cotton-candy pink to a more stately blue.
I'm not sure what the TTC entrance has to do with New Fantasyland, but a Disney cast member manning the booth told me that was the reason for the change.
Speaking of New Fantasyland, here's a chance for me to give credit where it's due. I had complained in a post a few weeks ago that Disney should set out more signage indicating where the FastPass machines are located for the new "Under the Sea" attraction. (For the uninitiated, they are nowhere near the actual ride; instead, they are located outside Mickey's Philharmagic.")
On a trip a few weeks ago, the hunt for the FastPasses was causing major traffic jams in the already crowded New Fantasyland.
Well, perhaps I was just ahead of my time. On my most recent visit, signs were set out to be seen if approaching the New Fantasyland entrance from any direction. Very helpful for newbies.
Weirdly, also still on display in early January were the large signs advertising Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party — which of course ended weeks ago. Perhaps, it's clever really-advance marketing? Planting the seed for Christmas 2013?
