  3. Pennsylvania State Budget Deficit Lower Than Expected

    The Pennsylvania Legislature is back in session and they have one main agenda, to complete the State Budget. Monday, both the State Budget Secretary and the Revenue Secretary out speaking about the budget. When Governor Corbett announced his 27 billion dollar budget in January, the state was facing a nearly $700 million dollar deficit, resulting in multiple proposed cuts to higher education and the department of public welfare. But better than expected tax revenue collections in April have decreased that number down to about $300 million,which could help with some of Corbett's proposed budget cuts.
