The Avilla/Joplin weather radio transmitter is down for the next few days.  It is producing a low signal but it isn't reliable.  It appears the tower got struck by lightning and a technician needs to climb the tower and fix it.  With the strong winds expected the fix won't probably happen until after the severe weather outbreak forecasted Sunday evening through Tuesday.  It is imperative you switch your weather radio frequency, otherwise, you may not get a warning.  Check your owner manual to change your frequency.  Here is the list of frequencies to change to depending on your location.
