  1. Estate plan stirs worries over liability

Q: My parents are in their mid-70s and own a small home in Georgia. When they had their will prepared recently, the attorney also prepared a warranty deed reserving joint life estate. It has been filed in the county clerk's office listing my siblings and me as owners of the home. We are all adults, have our own homes, children, bank accounts, retirement accounts, etc. Are we liable should there be an accident or some other type of incident at the home?

  7. Good logs make good neighbors

Q: A year or two ago we had a big tree taken down and had a pile of logs stacked 10 yards from the house. We didn't put the logs on anything or cover them. A neighbor has complained that termites might set up house in the logs and are thus a threat to their shed and house. We'd like to oblige the neighbor by putting the logs on something perhaps? What do you advise? —Judy B.
