Roanoke police say a child found dead Monday showed signs of physical abuse. In a search warrant, officers went to a home in the 2900 block of Center Avenue NW after a call of an unresponsive child. Police and Child Protective Services records indicate a previous history involving domestic violence, the warrant says. The child also showed injuries consistent with being abused. Officers took items from the home including a baby bottle and pacifier. We'll update as we get more information. Any possible charges might not happen until the next grand jury session in June.
