  1. As Orlando Magic rise, woeful Wizards continue downswing

These are some days when you are drinking your double-espresso latté while reading the newspaper -- print edition; call me old-school crazy -- when you come across something that makes you go pfffttt! all over your comfy jammies: "The Magic (11-13)...

  5. The Idea That Will Revolutionize the NBA

The other day I was thinking with my brain, as I sometimes do, and I came up with a fool-proof idea to revolutionize the entire National Basketball Association. It’s all about the structure of the season, and if you have any clout—with some sports blog, with ESPN, with Mike Wilbon, and especially with the league brass and incoming commissioner Adam Silver, go ahead and explain the ever-loving-shit out of this idea to them. Attention, Bill Simmons: this idea is so not half-baked; it's so fully, completely baked, it should be in a muffin shop (or wherever it is baked things go).

How frightening can retirement be? This frightening: Tuesday, former Miami Heat guard Eddie House found himself trying to stand as a voice of reason amid a televised debate with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith.    Perhaps that's why, even 34 and...

The latest dispute in the NBA is for the birds. Or not for the birds. The New Orleans Hornets want a nickname change. They want to become the New Orleans Pelicans. The state bird in Louisiana is the pelican, but it doesn't sound like a good nickname...

  13. Parasiliti: Good drama is only a time, place away

Drama usually falls in one of two categories. It’s either right place, wrong time or right place, right time. In sports, one of those two criteria arise to create great stories. (Oh yeah, we’ll throw in a third category. That’s when...

  21. NBA's $250,000 fine of Spurs sets new precedent

It's common practice for teams, as they near the playoffs, to sit big-name players for regular-season games in order to give them an extra few days of rest. The Lakers have done so with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol in previous seasons, but they'll have...
