  1. Bears clinch, Rex falters

It was a victory for a division championship that was anything but cause for celebration. The Bears lost their best defensive lineman, Tommie Harris, with an apparent knee injury. Their Pro Bowl cornerback, Nathan Vasher, left the game with a strained hamstring of unknown severity. And their quarterback had a 1.3 rating against a team ranked 31st in the NFL against the pass.

  3. K.C. Johnson's answers

The offensive line clearly has been a major reason the Bears are 6-3. Do the coaches divulge which starters have graded out the highest from week to week? What direction do you see the team going at guard for next year with Roberto Garza and Terrence...

  5. Grossman's big day leads Bears' romp over Lions

Last time he heard boos. This time, not so much. Rex Grossman led the Bears to a 34-7 thrashing of the Detroit Lions in the home opener Sunday by going 20-for-27 with 289 yards and four touchdowns.

  7. Bears steal win from Vikes

Most teams and competitors win when they play their best. Champions typically win when they don't. What the Bears managed to do Sunday--rally to beat the Minnesota Vikings 19-16 in a place where they had lost four straight times--felt like one of those defining moments for a team with dreams.

  9. Ask David: Answers to your Bears questions

Standing on top of a bench in front of his locker Thursday, wide receiver Rashied Davis raised a reporter's stray digital tape recorder he had found and began auctioning it off around the room. "Do I hear 20 ... 25?'' barked Davis, one of the more...

  11. Bears come up short

Coach Lovie Smith identified November as a target month. This one did not end exactly as he or the Bears would have liked.
    Tribune staff reporter
Coach Lovie Smith identified November as a target month. This one did not end exactly as he or the Bears would have liked. The Bears finished the month 2-2, failing to score more than 13 points in three of their four games and closing a grueling three-...

  13. No. 1 with a shrug

The crowd of 62,260 came to see a coronation of the Bears as the NFC's top seed. They got that. The crown was just a little askew.

The crowd of 62,260 came to see a coronation of the Bears as the NFC's top seed. They got that. The crown was just a little askew. And the NFC kings could not have cared less. With a 34-31 overtime victory Sunday over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bears...

  15. Gould boots Bears into conference title game

    First quarter
    Tribune staff reporter
First quarter Lovie Smith is fond of saying the Bears get off the bus running, and he confirmed it by handing the ball to Thomas Jones on 10 of the first 14 plays from scrimmage. The final time was a 9-yard burst through the left side behind devastating...

Bears defensive end and resident philosopher Alex Brown reflected on the place Sunday's 27-24 overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks might warrant in team annals.

  19. Bears win shootout on Sunday

Mike Brown has been to the playoffs with three different Bears teams and to a Super Bowl with one of them. Two of those three teams had better records than the 2008 Bears after seven games. The 2005 edition, which moved Brown to his famous "We suck" declaration after its 1-3 start, was 4-3, like this one after seven games.
