  1. Shirley Elizabeth Hahn, 77, of Deep Creek Lake, formerly of Somerset

    Shirley Elizabeth Hahn, 77, of Deep Creek Lake, passed away on Nov. 20, 2011, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. She was born on Sept.  1, 1934, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of the late Carlton and Ida Aist. Shirley grew up in Baltimore and lived in the Baltimore area until relocating in 1971 with her husband to Somerset and later relocated to Boca Raton, Florida in 1977. Deep Creek Lake, Md., became a very important part of her life in 1966 when she and her husband designed and built a home there and have owned a home since. Shirley was accomplished at designing the custom homes she and her husband built, was an excellent seamstress, supported her husband in his real estate business, loved her family dearly, was a big baseball fan, and thoroughly enjoyed and loved her pets. She also loved to travel, her favorite destination being Disney World. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Carroll I. Hahn, sister, Janet Horan, of Woodstock, Md., and four daughters, Susan Carol Thompson, Solomons, Md., Karen Lynn Brant, Boynton Beach, Fla., Sandra LaRee Pingatore, Boca Raton, Fla., and Allyson Michelle Hahn, Deep Creek Lake. Shirley was blessed with five grandchildren, Conner Michael Thompson, Garett Craig Brant, Cassidy Elizabeth Brant, LaRee Nicolette Pingatore, Austin Mark Pingatore, and great-grandchild, Mason Edward Brant-Stout. Family and friends will be received at Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Lane, Oakland, Maryland on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 from 11 a.m. to noon at which time a funeral service will be held with Carl Fike officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550. The David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A. 21 N. 2nd St.., Oakland, MD is handling the arrangements. www.burdockfuneralhome.com.
