Let there be no confusion on the matter. As of Sunday evening the vibes are now legitimately, painstakingly gathered. It took one very long and very hot four-day weekend to complete a mission that demanded ample peace, music and hula-hoops, regardless...

  9. Feds order reduction in LIS lobster catch

Connecticut’s few remaining lobstermen have been warning for months that cutting the number of lobsters they’re able to take out of Long Island Sound would just about doom what’s left of their industry, but the feds have done it anyway.

  15. Dining Down on the Shore

Here on the high-rent Gold Coast, where McMansions and yachts line the Long Island Sound, you'd think there would be plenty of waterfront dining choices to cater to the castle kings and captains, not to mention the rest of us who work for them. You'd think wrong. Perhaps it's the aforementioned bigwigs who block any potential waterside restaurants, fearing the plebes might infest their personal playgrounds and ruin their view. Or maybe it's just a case of bureaucracy 101: zoning, insurance, permits and enough red tape to tangle up a would-be waterside restaurateur for years. Regardless, inexplicably, there are relatively few places on our section of coastline at which to enjoy the lapping of saltwater ripples or a glorious waterfront sunset over a frosty libation and a dozen oysters. Just a handful of restaurants can claim a waterfront locale in Fairfield County.
