1. F. Scott Fitzgerald's former Baltimore home for sale

It might lack the cachet of Long Island Sound, where novelist S. Scott Fitzgerald set "The Great Gatsby." But anyone with a spare $450,000 can live in a piece of literary history — specifically the 3,600-square-foot Bolton Hill town home where...

3. Remember the Broadwater LNG Plant for Long Island Sound? Maybe It Wasn't Such A Hot Idea After All

Remember a few years ago when a consortium of energy giants wanted to build a $700 million floating liquefied natural gas plant in the middle of Long Island Sound? It was going to help Connecticut and New York consumers and be wonderful for the economy....

5. Property of the Week: Seaside Village

Some of Marty Widness’ fondest memories of growing up were the six weeks each year that she and her family spent at Hawk’s Nest Beach in Old Lyme. Days filled with playing on the sand, swimming in Long Island Sound and eating ice cream were unforgettable. Now retired, she and her husband, Ed, decided to ensure that their grandchildren would have similar memories of growing up. The Glastonbury couple purchased a second home in Niantic’s Seaside Village.

11. Living On The Ebb And Flow Of Disaster

The Hartford Courant
Last year gave me my first chance to live between the tidal cycle and the disaster cycle. Though I've had personal encounters with both throughout my life, I had not lived through the rhythms involved, and therefore did not truly understand. Now I do....

13. Winter Creature Cruises at The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk

Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you can't cruise. Bundle up and head down to the Maritime Aquarium to venture out into the soon-to-be-icy waters of Long Island Sound on the Oceanic research vessel in search of wildlife, the cutest of which are the seals: both harbor seals and gray seals. It's a two-and-a-half hour cruise, and educators will talk about the seals' history and anatomy while you're out there. With such a close proximity to New York City, it's easy to forget the Long Island Sound contains some real-deal sea creatures. The cruises continue every other weekend through the winter.

15. Summer Festivals 2012: Gathering of the Vibes at Seaside Park in Bridgeport

Vibes will continue to honor the legacy of the Grateful Dead this year by featuring the individual bands of four ex-members: Phil Lesh and Friends, Bob Weir & Bruce Hornsby with Branford Marsalis, the Mickey Hart Band and 7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann. (Furthur is still together, but after playing Bridgeport a couple years in a row, they're mixing up their schedule a bit and returning to the Northeast later in the summer.) Primus popped its Vibes cherry in 2010, and will be back this year to reprise their weirdness on a grand scale one more time. Newcomers the Avett Brothers will represent the latest wave of Americana sweeping the mainstream, and Connecticut's own adorable husband and wife duo Mates of State will make their first appearance at the festival this year too. Last year was the hottest Vibes weekend on record, so bring your sunscreen and stay hydrated. Dance your ass off on the Silent Disco at the beach at 2 a.m. if you so desire. Ride the Ferris wheel. Sit beside P.T. Barnum's regal seated statue overlooking Long Island Sound and just take it all in. It's one of the premier music festivals in the whole country, and it's happening right here in Bridgeport. To miss out on all the fun would be just plain silly.

19. In the Wake of Hurricane Sandy, Should Connecticut Lawmakers Address Land-Use Along the Shore?
