  3. Northwestern tackles the career (and controversies) of Tyler Perry

    There are no sacred cows on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." The show happily skewers its own network along with any number of pop-culture phenomena, and last week's episode was no different, with a running joke aimed squarely in the direction of Tyler Perry, featuring scenes from a movie (must I say it? fictitious!) called "<a href="http://bio.tribune.com/TracyJordan">Tracy Jordan</a>'s Aunt Phatso Goes to the Hospital Goes to Jail."

  13. Watch the trailer for MTV's Chicago-based series 'Underemployed'

    You probably know close to nothing about &ldquo;Underemployed&rdquo; -- other than the fact that the MTV show spent the summer filming in Chicago. The brand new series doesn&rsquo;t have a star like &ldquo;Boss,&rdquo; as many recognizable faces as &ldquo;The Mob Doctor&rdquo; or any of the controversy that surrounded &ldquo;Mob Wives Chicago.&rdquo;

  15. Singer Marc Anthony co-hosts fundraiser in Chicago

    Marc Anthony has done plenty of favors for other charities over the years, but now it's the salsa crooner who is asking for help for his own non-profit organization. Anthony and Chicago entreprenuer Henry Cardenas are raising money for the charity they created earlier this year, Maestro Cares Foundation, which benefits orphaned and disadvantaged children in Latin America. The charity's first Chicago fundraiser took place Aug. 20 at Sofitel Chicago Water Tower.

  19. 2011 FALL THEATER GUIDE

    New theaters. Renovated playhouses. Hot dramas. Nervous new artistic directors. Stephen Sondheim and his &ldquo;Follies.&rdquo; A celebration of Stephen Schwartz, a dissection of Mark Rothko, and a look at the tragedy that befell the Amish of Pennsylvania. &ldquo;The Kid Thing&rdquo; by Chicago Dramatists and About Face. &ldquo;The Real Thing&rdquo; in Glencoe. All kinds of things at Theater Wit. With apologies to Oscar Hammerstein II, the fall is busting out all over.

  23. 'Cascabel': For the love of Rick Bayless and his sexy food

    THEATER REVIEW: "Cascabel" by Rick Bayless and Lookingglass Theatre &#9733;&#9733;&#9733;&#189; ... There can be no question that Lookingglass, in partnership with the High Priest of Mexican cuisine, does indeed deliver a very sexy and sensual experience.
    Lubricated by a salty margarita purloined in the lobby, clearly besotted with the environmental theatricality of period Mexican chic, and with the taste of Rick Bayless' tuna ceviche apparently dancing cartwheels on his lips, one intensely aroused...
