5. 2/3/2013-Billions For UConn

I was thinking of a metaphor to use for a cartoon about Governor Malloy's plan to invest over $2 billion in UConn's future. It's a gamble, a gamble with our money, so I thought of the casinos and blackjack and us poor taxpayers. But then I thought that the program could bear fruit. Then I thought of the water problem out there in Storrs. The well came to mind and I made a sketch to study and then I downloaded UConn's logo. When I saw the oak leaves and acorn I had a new idea. It's fun how that works. The lesson, if there is one, is don't be locked into an idea. Be ready to act if a better one comes along.

  9. Property of the Week: 14 Hebron Road

After walking along the rail trail bordering the property, you can return home to relax on the deck overlooking a brook and enjoy the sounds of gently running water. 14 Hebron Road in Andover is a beautifully renovated colonial farmhouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This charming, three-bedroom country home is convenient to shopping, restaurants and city services but feels worlds away from civilization. Its connection to the 20-mile Hop River State Park hiking trail makes it a county retreat with connections to nature that are rare to find.

  21. Finally, Boatright Gets Chance To Play Before His Family

    — A year later, almost to the day, Ryan Boatright was retracing his steps. He went down the elevator at the team hotel Friday, then along the hallway. That's where he was stopped last year, just before the dining room. That's where his season was interrupted.
