    Edmund G. “Bud” Rowland, 91, Laurel View Village, formerly of Richland, died June 11, 2011, at Laurel View. Born Dec. 24, 1919, in Johnstown, son of the late Edmund B. and Mary E. (Dudenhofer) Rowland. Also preceded in death by first wife, Kathryn (Pyer); infant daughter; sister Miriam Ferg; and stepdaughter Diane Lamer. Survived by wife Helene E. (Wallace-Rhoads), Laurel View Village; children: Edmund L. “Skip,” married to the former Pam Gilbert, Richland; Judith K. “Judi” McArdle, State College; Eric “Ric,” married to the former Karen Anderson, State College; stepchildren: Thomas “Dusty” Rhoads, Johnstown; Romayne (Rhoads) Scalf, Nashville, Tenn.; and grandchildren: Melissa Rowland, Harrisburg, Cara Beth Lushko, (Scott), Johnstown, Pastor Edmund Kirk Rowland (Jennifer Gore), St. Michael, Evan Rowland, Fairfax, Va., Alex Rowland, Pittsburgh, Bessann (McArdle) Wood (Howard), West Lake, La., Hazel McArdle, State College; and stepgrandchildren, Dee Scalf and Dana (Scalf) Sheffield, Nashville; great-grandchildren: Hannah Lushko, Jacob Lushko and Noah Lushko, Johnstown, Sienna Rowland and Shay Rowland, St. Michael. A 1938 graduate of Johnstown High School, graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, World War II Navy veteran, retired communications engineer for Penelec. Member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Greater Johnstown Lodge 538, F&AM. Bud greatly enjoyed boating, fishing and his grandchildren. Friends received from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Pastor David Streets and Pastor Kirk Rowland officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery with military rites by Menoher Post 155, VFW Ritual Team. A memorial service will be held at Laurel View Village at a later date. Family suggests donations to Laurel View Village Caring Fund, 1000 Vista Drive, Davidsville, PA 15928 in memory of Bud. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
