One day I became a superhero, except I was dressed as a guy. I was a new hero in a group of four. Two girls; Fire Storm and Wind Storm, then two guys; Night Shade and Shadow the leader. We were on a rescue mission and I was talking and asking questions while jumping from roof to roof.
Night Shade was the moody one in the group but definitely the best fighter. I looked up to him for that. Fire Storm and Wind Storm were the ones to always comfort me, and Shadow was nice and unquestionably the leader. I got on all of Night Shade’s nerves and he yelled at me. He told me to shut up then blocked me out. It wasn’t hard; I stopped talking after that. I still felt bad after the mission so I told them to go on home and I would catch up with them later. I went to my thinking spot near one of the angel statues at the cathedral a few blocks down.
When I came home I expected everyone to be asleep in the apartment that we had together, two bedrooms one for the girls one for the guys. I had to take one of the three couches in the main room. When I walked into the kitchen area that opened into the main room I saw the most disturbing sight. All ofthem in the living room laying there, not moving. I ran towards them and stopped at Night Shade who was lying in the middle of the floor with Fire Storm on the left couch Wind Storm on the right and Shadow on the couch against the back wall.
I knew something was wrong. I tried to wake Night Shade knowing he was the strongest and hopefully would be the easiest to wake. He didn’t. Now me being the emotional person I was especially after the night I had; I began to cry. Looking at their half visible faces and remembering how they had taken me in. I had left them on such bad terms. I didn’t want them to think of me that way. They were my family and I didn’t want them to go.
They started sitting up in unison, their eyes glowing red. I scrambled back towards the door, tremendously confused and frightened. Their voices sounded metallic like a chorus of robots. Then some men busted the door in; a flood of men dressed liked a squat team crowded into our apartment. They grabbed my arms and held them against my back. I had no idea what was going on anymore all I knew was my best friends ... my family were nowhere to be seen.
The men holding me down started congratulating them selves by saying I was “their key to catching these heroes.” The thought of them still being alive gave me the strength to fight. I kicked the man to my left. He let go of my hand and fell to the floor. With my free hand I did an uppercut; straight to the other guard’s jaw. I concentrated hard and hoped I had some kind of power that would blast them all through the wall. I got a super sonic wave that radiated from my body throughout the room.
I found a tape recorder in some drawers. I took one of the tapes that had no name on it and taped a message, checking all the exits to see if more goons were around while recording.
I was at the last window when my heart jumped from my chest. A knock on the door. I hurried and finished the tape creeping towards the door. A big booming voice came from the hall, “Hey Charlie is you all ok?” I answered in a manly voice. “Yea just knocked her out, we’re gonna tie her up and come out soon.” I hope that sounded dumb enough.
“Ok.” He actually fell for it wow he’s dense.
I tried escaping out the window but there were goons standing out side now.
I retreated back into the room and heard another metallic voice this one more static covered. A walkie-talkie, I could barely make out what it said, “She’s moving!”
Again they knocked the door in. They grabbed my arms the same way the first had. I threw the tape recorder with it still recording on the table maybe I could get some more information out of these guys.
“Where are you taking me?” I yelled trying to cover up the crashing noise of the recorder on the table.
“We’re taking you to our master at the ship yard.”
“What are you going to do with me there?”
“We aren’t gonna kill you girly we’re just gonna ask you questions.”
“Shut up Doug!” the other one said. Doug looked sad.
“What are you going to ask me about?” I needed more answers.
“We gonna ask you who the superheroes really are.” He was proud to know this.
“SHUT UP DOUG!” he was irritated and I thought maybe I could get some good answers out of him.
