While many communities around Clark County celebrated Independence Day with the traditional fireworks shows July 4 weekend, Clark County residents could only look on with envy.
The local July 4 Celebration and fireworks show was postponed just days before it was scheduled because of hazardous dry conditions and a county-wide burn ban put in place on June 29.
But Sept. 15, it will be the residents of the other communities who will be on the outside looking in as the Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation and Winchester Elks Lodge No. 2816 will host the rescheduled July 4 Celebration at Lykins Park.
The lineup for the event remains unchanged.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. There will be a dinner, provided by the Fraternal Order of Firefighters, and recognition for all Clark County veterans beginning at 6:30 p.m., hosted by masters of ceremony Brian Thomas and Jeff Lewis. All veterans will be admitted to the celebration free of charge with a valid ID.
Following the veterans recognition, there will be musical performances by local artist Brittany Means, Brad Alford and Saddle Tramp and The ReZonators.
The evening concludes with the long-awaited fireworks show.
Cost of parking for the event is $5 per vehicle except for those veterans with valid IDs.
