Since graduating from Belmont University in 2011, Caleb Crosby has been touring the country with Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown.

Tonight, Crosby will perform for one of his biggest audiences yet. Thanks to a collaboration between record label EMI and promotional group OurStage, Shakedown was selected to perform its original single “Last One Leaving” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The show begins at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.

“They (OurStage) found us early on and they started promoting us. They joined with our record label and made it happen,” Crosby said.

The performance is just one stop on their fall tour, which began in early September, and has included headline shows as well as opening performances for Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd and REO Speedwagon. The tour will continue through December as part of promotion for their first full-length CD, “Wild Child.” The record will be released nationwide Jan. 22, though “Last One Leaving” is already receiving airplay in select cities.

“It’s been a blast. We’ve had opportunities to open for cool and bands and headline our own shows,” Crosby said.

The Winchester native began his musical career as a drummer in the Conkwright Middle School band. Since then, he honed his skills playing for various artists in Nashville, and working with Tyler Bryant and other Shakedown members. He is the son of former George Rogers Clark High School band director Steve Crosby and Shanda Crosby.

Crosby said he and the Shakedown front man were introduced by a friend, and decided to try playing together.

“There were no expectations whatsoever, then within a week we were on the road,” Crosby said.

That was almost four years ago and, in that time, band members Graham Whitford and Noah Denney have been added to the mix.

Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown will perform locally Dec. 1 at Cosmic Charlie’s.

“Last time we were at Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington, we did our CD release for our last record. It was the day it came out. Now we’re looking forward to coming back and playing songs from the record,” Crosby said.

He expects a lot of family and friends from high school to be at the show.

After the new CD is released next year, the band will tour Europe and promote the album on the radio.

“We’re hitting the market hard,” Crosby said.

“Last One Leaving” is available on iTunes, as well as previous Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown releases.
