The facility will go up on Kemper Street, across from the Lynchburg train station.

Unlike the existing transfer station at The Plaza, the new building will have an indoor waiting room, bathrooms, and a ticket counter.

Riders have mixed opinions about the change.

“It will be a nice thing, because I don't think standing out here in the cold for an hour is very good,” bus passenger Alfred Tanner said.

Another bus passenger, Andrew Abbitt, disagreed. "I feel that it's going to be out of the way for all of the people that live close to The Plaza."

The new transfer station will cost about $8 million dollars.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held next month.
