Part of a Lynchburg street to close for a week
Starting Monday, a part of Fifth Street in Lynchburg will be shut down.

Crews are putting in new sewer lines.

Fifth Street will be closed to traffic between Madison and Harrison Streets from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work is expected to last all week.

Here is the news release from Lynchburg:

Beginning Monday, January 9 and continuing throughout the week, the 600 block of Fifth Street
(between Madison and Harrison Streets) will be closed to through traffic from 7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
each evening. Alternate routes will be posted.

The closure will allow for the installation of sanitary sewer lines across Fifth Street. The work is
being done at night to lessen the impact on area businesses and motorists.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience.
