Roanoke transportation systems integrate Google into buses

Several Public Transportation groups signed up through Google Transit to help book trips around the area.  Through Google Transit, riders can choose their origin and final destination.

"It gets down to the details that are important to the first-time user. How far do I have to walk? Where exactly is this bus stop? So if you know where you want to go and obviously your point of origin, it'll connect you, said Carl Palmer with Valley Metro.

On top of all that, the addition of Google Transit will tell you how much money the fare would cost, allow you to buy your tickets online and see how much money you're saving by taking public transit instead of driving your own car.

The addition of Google Transit will better connect Smartway with Valley Metro, Radar with The Star Line.

According to U-S Census data, ridership is up almost 35-percent in the past two years.
