2000 jobs. Even with the government supporting continuing education for veterans... It can still be hard for some to make ends meet. wdbj7 Mornin's Alison Parker is live at Virginia Western Community College with how it's working to help the issue. Virginia Western is hosting a 5k race this Saturday morning called Boots2Books. All the money goes straight toward the emergency Veteran Assistance Fund at the college. I'm here with Matthew Jones, president of the Student Armed Forces Association. Why should people come out and support this event? When you're relying on the government to pay for your education, is that enough? (Despite the supports and funding available to veterans as they return to college and prepare for the workforce, many still find themselves needing help. As a veteran myself, i knew i wanted to do something about it. The support of Virginia Western and community partners to make this race a reality has been amazing.) What do you want people to get out of this Saturday's event?
