a Montgomery County corporal was killed in the line of duty. But, even though he's gone, he's not forgotten. Today- friends, family and even complete strangers came out for the Eric Sutphin Memorial Poker Run. This morning, more than 150 motorcyclists left from the Texas Roadhouse in Christiansburg to raise money for the scholarship fund in Sutphin's name. Corporal Sutphin was ambushed and killed in the line of duty, during the manhunt for escaped inmate William Morva. Sutphin's friends and former co- workers say this scholarship embodies his committment to the community. Deputy Mark Hollandsworth, Montgomery Co. Sheriff's Office: That fund goes to high school seniors that are entering college that are children of law enforcement to help them with their educational need when they reach college. This is the 5th year for the run. To date, 16 scholarships have been awarded.
