This Saturday kicks off the Virginia State Championship Chili Cook-off in Elmwood Park. All the proceeds go toward the Greenvale School's scholarship tuition fund. WDBJ7's Alison Parker is live at the school now with a "taste" of what can look forward to this weekend. This event brings about eight thousand people each year. This is the first year it will be held in Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke. I'm here with the event organizer Sarah Stephenson. What all can we look forward to this Satuday? (The Greenvale School will host the annual Chili Cookoff on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Elmwood Park. Each year, about 8,000 people attend this popular event in downtown Roanoke. The Virginia State Championship Chili Cook-Off is the largest event of its kind in the state, with local and regional chili cook teams competing for the right to represent va at the World Championship Chili Cook-Off in Las Vegas or Omaha each year. All proceeds support Greenvale School's Scholarship Tuition Fund! This year's event lineup will include fresh chili and salsa tastings, with patrons voting for their favorite People's Choice Chili; live entertainment and music; craft vendor booths; a beer garden; the famous jalapeno pepper eating contest; the new "Chili Slurp contest; and numerous trophies and cashprizes for the winning Chili Cook Teams.)
