Crews pulled 25 hundred tons of coal ash from the Dan River at the Schoolfield Dam, where the company says a large deposit was located. Duke Energy told wdbj7 in March it paid the city 25 hundred dollars to cover the cost of predicted losses during the dredging project. In February more than 39 thousand tons of coal ash spill into the Dan River from the steam station near Eden, North Carolina.
