Today marked the start of scrimmage season for area high school football teams and the Giles Spartans tried to knock off some rust at Hidden Valley. The Spartans capped-off a perfect 15 and oh season in 2013 as the 2a state champs, and are trying to find the balance of embracing the accomplishment while turning their complete focus to this season. Jeff Williams, Giles Head Football Coach, "Th guys that were on that team, they need to appreciate that for the rest of their lives. That's one of those things that that's what it's for and they need to appreciate that for the rest of their life. We as coaches and the players also, we got to understand that hey, it's a new season. 15 and oh is behind us. We got to start from scratch. It's oh and oh and it's time to go. It does confidence for anybody, any football program. That's the big thing about it. It's nice going into a new season with that behind us. That was a huge accomplishment and i think that was an historical game for us. It's just something special but we gotta understand, that was last year and this is this year. " Last year's championship roster had plenty of play- makers for the Spartans, and they're fortunate that the core group returns for another year in the always tough single wing. Jeff Williams, Giles Head Football Coach, "w got those good backs coming back. We got some good skill people, you know Brett Whitlow and Brian Mann back there in the backfield and of course John Teets. But we got several coming back off that team but we still got some work to do as far as depth and things like that." a mixed day for stocks on Wall Street.
