Tuesday's strong cold front produced snow in places that don't ordinarily see the white stuff. Wilmington, North Carolina was one of those.

The afternoon started out sunny and mild, but by the evening, snow was falling. While it only coated the surfaces, it was the earliest snowfall ever recorded there.

The earliest record of snowflakes falling in Wilmington was November 14th, both in 1976 and 1934. This event will set a new record upon official confirmation from the National Weather Service.
