Virginia has become widely known for its spectacular fall colors. As the leaves peak during the month of October, visitors flock to the region to see what all the fuss is about. Leaves will begin changing first on the highest peaks and finish in the lower elevations by early November.

There is no simple formula for predicting fall color. Shorter days, cooler nights and the amount of moisture all play a part to make no two autumns the same.
