WIND ALERTS
Wind Advisory: Issued for sustained winds 31 to 39 mph for at least 1 hour or any gusts 46 to 57 mph. However, winds of this magnitude occurring over an area that frequently experiences such winds would not require the issuance a wind advisory.
High Wind Watch: Issued when conditions are favorable for the development of high winds over all of or part of the forecast area but the occurrence is still uncertain. impact of the winds.
High Wind Warning: Issued when sustained winds from 40 to 73 mph are expected for at least 1 hour; or any wind gusts are expected to reach 58 mph or more.

FLOOD ALERTS
Flood Advisory: Issued when heavy rain may cause ponding water along the roads and poor drainage area. Look for future watches/warnings if rain turns heavy.
Flood Watch: Issued when conditions are favorable for the development of heavy rain that may cause flooding in the near future. The occurrence, location and timing may still be uncertain.
High Wind Warning: Issued when heavy rain is likely or already occurring, that will likely cause flooding of creeks, streams, rivers and poor drainage areas.

FLASH FLOOD ALERTS
What is a Flash Flood?: It's a flood that occurs within a few hours (usually less than six) of heavy or excessive rainfall, dam or levee failure or water released from an ice jam.
Flood Watch: Issued to indicate current or developing hydrologic conditions that are favorable for flash flooding in and close to the watch area, but the occurrence is neither certain or imminent.
High Wind Warning:Issued to inform the public, emergency management, and other cooperating agencies that flash flooding is in progress, imminent, or highly likely.
