This afternoon, WDBJ7 will do something that has never been done before. Using the latest in broadcast technology, Meteorologist Brent Watts will broadcast Live from McAfee Knob along the Appalachian Trail.
Look for stories from the trail and live weather from around 3100 feet, with spectacular views and and a few special hiker guests.

McAfee Knob s one of the most photographed spots on the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) as it winds its way through Virginia.
It is a steady climb of around 1700’ in about 4.4 miles to the Knob from the VA311 parking area, so expect a good workout. On a clear day you will have some of the best views in region.
