LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Lynchburg Water Resources has been awarded a grant to help with watershed education.

The department received the grant to establish a watershed STEM program at local elementary schools.

They hope to establish a program at Heritage and Linkhorne elementary schools.

The program would allow for students to get hands-on learning opportunities.

“We partnered with Heritage and Linkhorne elementaries and we’re using the grant to buy as many materials as we can so that hopefully we’ll be able to offer this programming to all the different 21st century programs,” said Nancy Lilly, Lynchburg Water Resources stormwater outreach coordinator.

Lynchburg City Schools continues to work on their Return to Learn plan and says they can’t comment on the program for now.
