ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Police say one person was seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday night, although initial reports indicated two victims.

Roanoke County Police responded to the 7-Eleven store at the intersection of Plantation and Hershberger roads around 9 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding gunshots in the parking lot area.

When police arrived, they identified one gunshot victim who had been driven from the scene to Roanoke County Fire Station #1 on Hershberger Road. The person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Initial reports indicated there was a second gunshot victim; however, Roanoke County Police say they were not able to locate a second person.

Witnesses said they saw a light colored two-door vehicle being driven by a Black man pull into the parking lot. They say the driver began shooting in the victim’s direction, near the gas pumps.

The shooter or shooters left the scene before police arrived.
