#19 Hokies fall to #8 UNC in high-scoring duel, 56-45

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WDBJ/AP) - Virginia Tech football fell 2-1 Saturday after a 56-45 loss in Chapel Hill.

Khalil Herbert put up 138 yards on the ground, reaching the end-zone twice.

Michael Carter ran for a career-high 214 yards and two touchdowns to help the Tar Heels add another victory to the win column. Javonte Williams also ran for a career-best 169 yards and two scores of his own. UNC finished with its highest-scoring output ever against the Hokies along with 656 total yards for the number two total ever posted against Virginia Tech’s defense.

Virginia Tech will host Boston College on Saturday, October 17 at 8 p.m.
