Person arrested after search along N. Main St. in Blacksburg

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - UPDATE: A person has been arrested after Sunday’s search in Blacksburg. No name has been released. Police have cleared the scene.

UPDATE: Blacksburg Police say they received a report Sunday of a suspicious incident/person in the 2100 block of N. Main Street who was making delusional statements referencing explosives. The man ran away when officers arrived.

A detour is available for residents in the area through the neighborhood (Vinyard Ave. over to Woodbine Dr.).

Blacksburg Police, Blacksburg Fire, Virginia Tech Police, the Virginia State Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the case.

The Virginia State Police Explosives Unit responded as well to check the subject’s vehicle and the surrounding area.

EARLIER: Police have closed N. Main St. in Blacksburg from Vinyard Ave. through Woodbine Drive as they work a scene. They are asking people to avoid the area.
