LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ) - One retail business in Lexington is showing its thanks to customers by giving back.

Old Lex Mercantile will contribute five percent of its sales in January, up to $500, to the Rockbridge Area Relief Association and the Community Table.

The owners say it’s their way of saying thanks to a community that kept the business thriving through the economic problems brought on by COVID.

”Many, many of our existing customers came back more than ever,” said co-owner Betsy Lee. “And we had a lot of new people discover us, and so we had a very strong year in spite of all of the challenges. And we really feel like we’re here to serve the community.”

They say many of their customers depend on the prepared meals they offer, and so continued to take them and their side dishes home via takeout.
