One dead after crash in Henry County along 220
HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - One person is dead after a head-on collision that blocked 220 near Bassett in Henry County Sunday.
Virginia State Police is investigating the crash, which happened just before 3:30 p.m.
A Chevrolet Tahoe was going south on Route 220 when the vehicle lost control and crossed the median. It hit a Toyota Tacoma head-on.
The driver of the Tacoma, 35-year-old Joshua Lee Williams, of Martinsville, died at the scene. He had been wearing his seatbelt.
The Chevrolet driver, 71-year-old Edward H. Stevens, of Clinton, North Carolina, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Three passengers were also transported for treatment of injuries. They were all wearing seatbelts.
VSP said charges are pending.
The state police’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist.
