ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - The Roanoke Public Library System will reopen its branches to the public June 15.

All buildings will be open for in-person services, during regular pre-pandemic hours.

Over the last year, the library has renovated places like the Gainsboro branch and has been awarded 41,000 children’s books through the Soho Center.

Staff members say they are excited to see people again and will be hosting a series of programs planned for kids and adults this summer.

”We’ve been connecting with the community through curbside and our outdoor programs, but we’re so excited to be able to welcome everyone back into our facilities,” says Sheila Umberger, director of libraries for the City of Roanoke.

During the year-long closure, the library system offered curbside service and plans to continue providing that option for the community.
