ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - US Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (D-VA) have announced more than $15 million for affordable housing across Virginia.

The federal funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help Virginians access affordable housing. It was awarded through the Emergency Housing Vouchers Program and authorized by the American Rescue Plan. The vouchers are for homeless individuals and folks who are at risk of becoming homeless.

“I believe it’s a great program and if we can take 26 individuals who are facing homelessness or are homeless and put them into units, I think it’s a great thing,” David Bustamante, Executive Director of the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority, said

The Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority has been granted $320,280 and 26 vouchers.
