RINGGOLD, Va. (WDBJ) - A woman arrested Thursday for a shooting in Pittsylvania County had shot her husband, according to court records obtained by WDBJ7.

Peggy Brewer is charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting about 8:35 a.m. June 10, 2021 in the 1800 block of Ringgold Road. Court records indicate Mrs. Brewer had called 911, claiming to be hurt. She also told dispatchers her husband was in the home and may be hurt.

Pittsylvania County deputies found Brewer on the porch with a gunshot wound to her leg. They found her husband in a bathroom, where investigators say he had locked himself because Mrs. Brewer had been attacking him and trying to shoot him.

Investigators say she shot Mr. Brewer in the leg before he got the gun from her, which is allegedly when she was shot.

She and the victim were treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released; she was then taken to jail.
