Two hospitalized; woman arrested for shooting in Campbell County
BROOKNEAL, Va. (WDBJ) - Two people are in a hospital with life-threatening injuries and a woman has been arrested after a shooting in Campbell County early Sunday.
Around 2:30 a.m. June 13, Campbell County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 107 Caroline Avenue in Brookneal, where a man and a woman had been shot, according to Sheriff’s Captain Tracy Emerson. They were taken to a hospital in Lynchburg, then moved to UVA University Hospital in Charlottesville, where Emerson says they are stable.
Sherry Wright, 41 of Brookneal, was arrested on two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony. She is being held without bond in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
Emerson says Wright and the victims appear to be members of the same family, and that this appears to be a case of domestic violence.
