Cabell Street fire in Lynchburg deemed accidental

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - A fire in Lynchburg Friday night has been deemed accidental, but no cause has been determined.

The fire was at a business at 31 Cabell Street. One employee was inside at the time of the fire.

The Lynchburg Fire Department says that person was treated and no other injuries have been reported. WDBJ7 also received an update that no firefighters were injured.

The fire led to some power outages, according to Appalachian Power.

Drivers at the intersection of 5th and Church are asked to be extra cautious, since power to stoplights is out. Treat the intersection like a 4-way stop. Other roads impacted include Norwood, C street and D street.

Officials say water customers may see discolored water due to the fire suppression efforts, but the water is not harmful.

The Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services says 5th Street toward Amherst County was closed at Main Street. during the firefight.
