HENRY COUNTY, Va. - The Henry County community welcomed Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) Wednesday for an economic development celebration.

The governor announced that Press Glass will invest $155 million to expand at the Commonwealth Crossing Industrial Park – the largest capital investment ever made in Henry County.

“This is a great step towards the future that everyone envisioned when they put together this very impressive industrial park,” said Governor Youngkin. “We’re also excited as the Commonwealth of Virginia to be able to support this development, not just the expansion of Press Glass, but also the future development of Commonwealth Crossing. This is part of our overall growth and economic development plan across the Commonwealth.”

Press Glass will add 360,000 square feet to its existing facility to manufacture glass for the commercial construction industry. The project will create 335 jobs.

“The folks who work here are excited about it, because they’re going to have opportunity to in advance and grow as our company grows as well,” said Dale Wagoner, Henry County Administrator. “Our community will welcome these new jobs to our community because it improves the whole economy of our residents and allows them to do things that they may not be able to do otherwise.”

Once the expansion is complete, they say the industrial park will generate $2.7 million in tax revenue per year for Martinsville and Henry County.

Wagoner feels that Press Glass’ decision to expand will help create an international interest.

“Press Glass is a leader in Europe. So, this announcement today will allow other companies across the world to see that you can bring an international company to Henry County and thrive and be prosperous just like Press Glass,” added Wagoner.

They say construction will begin early next year, and they will begin hiring for the more than 300 job openings at the end of 2025.
