BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Losing weight as we age is challenging. Many things are happening in the body and many people find it harder to lose the weight that easily dropped in their 20s and 30s. This is especially the case for those aged 50 and older.

Researchers at Virginia Tech are hoping a new study can shed some light on what works and what doesn’t in people age 50 and over.

Here @ Home takes us to the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise at Virginia Tech where a lab has been set up for participants who are involved in the study.

This study is a behavioral intervention, meaning they are focused on helping folks make diet and physical activity changes that will help support weight loss, and maintain that weight loss long-term.

The new issue being addressed by this study is fluid and beverage intake – comparing different fluid intake recommendation to determine if those recommendations help promote weight loss.

Watch the interview segment as we speak with the lead researcher in this study to find out how people can participate in the study, and how they qualify.
