Suspect in fatal stolen vehicle chase identified
RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - The suspect in a fatal stolen vehicle pursuit in Radford Saturday has been identified, Virginia State Police confirmed Tuesday.
The suspect was identified as Khasi Nikole Chrisley, 33, of Blacksburg, according to police. She had a criminal record and mugshot on file from a previous case.
According to the Radford Police Department, officers received reports of an armed robbery at 9:07 p.m. at 1102 West Main Street, where a victim reported having a 2005 Toyota Camry stolen. According to police, the car was located 40 minutes later at a Sonic restaurant on West Main Street, where the driver sped off, prompting a police chase.
Police say the pursuit took place from Main Street to Radford Road and ended after the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips before the vehicle made it into Christiansburg.
The driver then struck a car in the left turn lane on Radford Road and then hit another car head-on.
Police say one of the occupants of the second car that was struck was flown to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the stolen vehicle was treated on scene by paramedics and was transported to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, where she died.
Police say Chrisley was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
