Bedford daycare employee arrested in child abuse case
BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - A Bedford daycare employee has been arrested in connection with a child abuse investigation, according to the Bedford Police Department.
Kellie Nicole Daflucas, 36, was arrested on three felony warrants Tuesday of gross, wanton, or reckless care for child.
Police say officers received reports on November 26, 2024 of a five-month-old child who sustained a broken arm while at daycare.
Police reviewed over 130 hours of video footage and conducted multiple interviews throughout a joint investigation with the Bedford County Department of Social Services and the Virginia Department of Education’s Office of Child Care Health and Safety.
According to police, multiple victims were identified with the incidents occurring between November 12 and November 26, 2024.
Bedford Police have not released the name of the facility, but Kimberly Booth, director of Little Light Learning Center in Bedford, told WDBJ the suspect used to work there, but hasn’t since November 2024. She would not comment further.
