Polls closed for primary election in Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - Tuesday, June 17, 2025, was Virginia’s primary election day, for voters to choose in several races who will represent each major party in November’s general election.

While the Governor’s race is already set for November, six Democrats were on the ballot competing for the party’s Lieutenant Governor nomination. Levar Stoney, Babur Lateef, Aaron Rouse, Victor Salgado, Ghazala Hashmi and Alexander Bastani were all vying for the chance to run against Republican John Reid.
Democrats Jay Jones and Shannon Taylor were competing for the party’s Attorney General nomination to run against Republican incumbent Jason Miyares.
Several House of Delegates seats in Virginia were on the primary ballot, and there were many Republican primaries for Board of Supervisors seats in our hometowns, including races in Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Grayson, and Montgomery counties.
